About 901 Legal Connect

901 Legal Connect is an online one-stop portal provided by the Memphis Bar Foundation in partnership with Community Legal Center (CLC) and Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS)

Funded by the Tennessee Legal Initiatives Fund (TLIF), 901 Legal Connect’s primary purpose is to connect low-income residents in Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby, and Tipton counties to free to low-cost legal service providers in the area.

901 Legal Connect asks applicants a series of questions about their household, income, legal issue, and other factors to determine if the applicant qualifies for legal assistance and the appropriate legal service provider for the applicant’s legal needs.  These questions are generated based on the specific legal issues addressed by each legal service provider so the organizations only receive intake applications for legal issues served by the respective organization.

This is a win-win for both applicants and legal service providers.

The applicant only completes one application to receive help or guidance, without multiple calls or contact with multiple organizations. Legal service providers receive only qualified applications, which increases their capacity to serve more vulnerable residents who would not otherwise have access to legal services.
